www.ixquick.com - a great meta search engine, throws back a tremendous number of responses.

www.ask.co.uk - a light hearted romp through the mainstream cyber world

www.yahoo.co.uk - has its uses, good UK coverage

www.macromedia.com - great support, downloads, links to help sites (try site of the day...one day....)

www.commarts.com - nice ideas, good site of the week section, can be difficult to navigate, use the site map

www.bbc.co.uk - a wealth of stuff, even Eastenders web cams for the great unwashed

 

Educational sites:

www.dfes.gov.uk - the great and the good of Education, not much use on a day to day basis, but can prove useful at times

www.qca.org.uk - the people who put the strangle holds on the examining boards, good site for downloading the latest iniative

www.ncaction.org.uk - full of support stuff, schemes of work, exemplar materials and other links

www.ocr.org.uk - the website of OCR! get syllabus, specifications etc. and support

www.edexcel.org.uk - as OCR, but for edexcel!

www.aqa.org.uk - ditto

www.ofsted.org.uk - has the reports and other interesting stuff, I used to work at Presdales in Ware, check out the 1999 report, I resigned the week before!

Playtime:

www.disney.com - great for kids, but starting to charge, I wont be going back!

www.warnerbros.com - grab some downloads of trailers, if thats what you fancy

www.shockwave.com - some great live entertainment

www.napster.com - what can I say that hasn't already been said...

www.kazaa.com - ....except that this is better!
